Our History

Wilkinson School serves the coastside as a lighthouse of learning, equipping students for lives well lived as accomplished, creative, caring individuals.

1977

The Wilkinson School was founded by Linda Wilkinson with just six students.

1980

Ed and Linda Wilkinson expanded from one site serving grades K-6 to include a licensed children’s center for thirty-six preschool-aged children in Moss Beach and a middle school for grades 6-8 in Half Moon Bay. The Half Moon Bay facility began to offer summer school and a licensed before-and after-school day care for children in grades K-6.

1985-2009

The Wilkinson School operated as a non-profit corporation. During this period the school consolidated into one location serving preschool through grade eight in the Wilkinson’s home at the original 130 Santa Ana site in 1986. Then they moved to their property across the street at 750 Avenue Alhambra with the addition of three modular classroom buildings in 1990 for the K-8 Wilkinson School.  In 2009 the Wilkinson's retired and move to Yakima, Washington.

2009 - 2015

Under the direction of Principal Tim Miller, and his business partner Doug Bannick, the school underwent various improvements and growth.  The school facilities were improved greatly and now include an enclosed deck and renovated classrooms.  Curriculum development included introduction of new programs such as Music Theater, Yoga, Garden Science and Spanish.

2016 - Present

The school became a non-profit again and continues to serve the coastal community with its new board of directors, experienced teaching staff and involved parent community. Wilkinson School continues to offer an elementary education which balances the highest quality of academics, enrichment through empirical studies, the arts, and nurturing in small classes with highly-qualified teachers.
