School Notes Native Hopi Culture

As an armada of Wilkinson School kindergarteners and first-graders sat cross-legged on the carpet, their hands fidgeting with anticipation, Bennard Dallasvuyaoma flashed back to his own childhood. For the wide-eyed students, the Hopi elder’s experiences were a window into an entirely new world.  “I remember when I was in kindergarten,” he said on Friday. “And where I went to school was in my community. I’m from the Hopi (Native American) tribe.”
