Spanish

Learning conversational Spanish through practice and hands-on activities

Our Spanish classes focus on learning the language through activities, games, songs, partner shares, role play, and written work.

The class also incorporates cultural cooking activities into the curriculum, in which the foods are identified in Spanish and Spanish phrases are used as the meal is prepared. We celebrate cultural holidays and learn about the significance of those holidays in Spanish speaking cultures.

Through community outreach on an ongoing basis, students are given the opportunity to apply their newfound skills, practice their new vocabulary and give back to their community.

Students work on a book translation project yearly, in which they translate a children's book and then read the book bilingually to younger students in other schools in our community. We then continue to read bilingual library books to younger students throughout the year.
